1. Back up and remove your data before shipping
You are responsible for your own data. Before you send us a device, please:
- Back up anything you want to keep.
- Sign out of all accounts (for example, your Apple ID, Google account, Samsung account, and email).
- Turn off all locks, including Find My / Activation Lock (Apple), Factory Reset Protection (Android / Google), and any mobile device management (MDM).
- Remove your SIM card and any memory or SD cards.
- If you can, perform a factory reset.
Removing accounts and locks is required so we can complete the trade-in. A device that arrives still locked may be placed on hold, may receive a revised offer, or may be returned (see our Terms of Service).
2. What we do when your device arrives
After we inspect a device and the sale is complete, we erase it by performing a factory reset to return it to its out-of-the-box state before it is refurbished, resold, or recycled. We take reasonable steps to remove personal data from each device we process.
3. SIM cards and memory cards
Please remove your SIM card and any memory or SD cards before shipping. If a SIM or memory card arrives in a device, we destroy it. SIM and memory cards are not returned.
4. Important limitations and your acknowledgment
A factory reset is the standard method for clearing a consumer device, but no data removal method is guaranteed to be completely unrecoverable in every case. We do not provide a formal data destruction certificate, and we cannot guarantee that all data is permanently and completely unrecoverable. Because of this:
- You are strongly encouraged to back up, sign out, and erase your data yourself before shipping, and not to rely solely on our process.
- To the fullest extent permitted by law, you release us from any liability arising from data left on a device you send us, or from the recovery or misuse of such data.
5. Personal information we hold
This policy covers data stored on the device itself. For information about the personal information we collect through our website and service (such as your name, address, and payout details) and your rights, see our Privacy Policy.
6. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above shows when it last changed.
