1. Who we are
Techtree is operated by Forest Bay International LLC, doing business as Techtree ("Techtree," "we," "us," or "our"). This policy applies to our website and our buyback service. For how we handle data stored on a device you send us, see our Data Wipe Policy.
2. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information, mostly directly from you:
- Identifiers and contact details: name, email address, phone number, and shipping or mailing address.
- Transaction information: the devices you quote and sell, condition answers, quoted and revised prices, order history, and photos you or we take of a device.
- Device identifiers: IMEI, serial number, and related device details used to verify the device, its lock status, and whether it is blacklisted.
- Payment / payout information: the payout method you choose (such as PayPal, Zelle, Cash App, or Venmo) and the destination you provide (such as an email, phone number, or username). We do not collect or store credit or debit card numbers, because we pay you rather than charge you.
- Account information: if you create an account, your login is managed through our authentication provider; we store your profile and saved addresses and payout methods.
- Consent records: the terms you accepted, your SMS and marketing choices, the exact text shown to you, the date and time, and the IP address used, kept as a record of your consent.
- Usage and device data: information collected automatically when you use the site, such as IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and similar analytics data (see Cookies and analytics below).
3. How we use your information
- To provide quotes, process your trade-in, inspect and verify devices, and pay you.
- To arrange shipping and return shipping.
- To communicate with you about your order, including revised offers and the deadlines that apply.
- To prevent fraud, verify ownership, screen for lost, stolen, or blacklisted devices, and comply with legal obligations (including sanctions and tax related screening).
- To send marketing or special offers, only if you opted in, and you can opt out at any time.
- To operate, secure, and improve our website and services.
4. How we share your information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed to run our service, with the following types of service providers, each of which receives only the data necessary for its function:
- Hosting and database providers that store our application data and files.
- Shipping carriers and label providers (for example, ShipStation, USPS, and UPS), which receive your name and shipping address to create labels and provide tracking.
- Email and messaging providers, which receive your contact details and order information to deliver notifications.
- Device verification services, which receive a device identifier (IMEI or serial number) to check lock and blacklist status.
- Analytics providers (for example, Google Analytics), which receive usage data as described below.
- Payout services, where applicable, to deliver your payment.
We may also disclose information to comply with the law, respond to lawful requests, enforce our terms, protect our rights, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
5. Cookies and analytics
We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies:
- Functional cookies that remember your "Box" item count and let you view an order from an emailed link without logging in.
- Authentication cookies that keep you signed in if you have an account.
- Analytics cookies, such as Google Analytics, which help us understand site traffic and how visitors find us. This data is processed by Google under its own privacy terms.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling some cookies may affect how the site works.
6. SMS and marketing communications
If you opt in to SMS, we send messages related to your trade-in. Message and data rates may apply, and message frequency varies. You can reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help at any time. Opting out of marketing does not stop transactional messages necessary to complete your order.
7. How long we keep your information
We keep your information for as long as needed to provide our service and for legitimate business and legal purposes, including fraud prevention, dispute resolution, accounting, and tax and regulatory recordkeeping. Some records are retained for several years to meet these obligations. When we no longer need information, we delete or de-identify it.
8. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, and to opt out of marketing or the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information. To exercise any right, contact us using the details below. We will verify your request and respond as required by applicable law, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
California residents have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA / CPRA), including the categories of rights described above. You may submit a request as described in the Contact section.
9. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Children
Our service is not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above shows when it last changed.
