1. One price per configuration and condition
Techtree prices each model by configuration (storage, carrier, connectivity, case size or the axes that model has) and by condition (Brand New, Flawless, Good, Fair, Minor Damage, Broken). The "What Techtree pays" table on a model page is that grid, and the "Every configuration we buy" list underneath it is the complete set. The quote wizard reads the same grid, so the price it shows is the price on the page.
A configuration we do not buy is not listed, and a condition we cannot make an offer for says so in the wizard rather than showing a placeholder figure.
2. Reviewed every day
Prices are reviewed once a day against the market and our own resale data. Every model page prints the date of its last update, and the sitemap carries the date a model's prices last moved so search engines can tell a fresh page from a stale one. Most used devices lose value over time, fastest in the weeks after a successor launches; the trend chart on each page shows the last 90 days.
3. The market comparison
For most models the page also shows how Techtree's price compares with other US buyback services. Each day we collect the public quotes those services publish for the same model, configuration and condition and record the lowest, the median (the middle quote) and the highest. Techtree's own quote is excluded from that range, and its rank is where our price sits among the quotes collected that day.
- The comparison is like for like: same model, same storage and carrier, same condition. Where a service keys a configuration differently, we use the closest equivalent and say which.
- Buyers are counted once each per condition, at their best price for that configuration.
- The other services are not named on the page. The figures are what they published; we do not adjust them.
- Some models have too few public quotes to compare fairly. Those pages show Techtree's price only.
4. From a price to an offer
- Complete device. The price assumes a complete, working device. Where an included item carries a deduction (a watch band or charger, for example), the wizard shows the exact figure before you accept. Items sold separately from the device never affect the price.
- Condition. The offer is for the condition you select; the criteria are on How we grade.
- Locks. Every offer requires a device free of activation lock, carrier finance locks and blacklisting.
- Price lock. Once you accept, the price is locked for 21 days while your device is on its way; the Price Lock Policy has the details, including the 7-day revised-offer window.
- Fees. Standard shipping and returns are free. Optional expedited shipping and shipment coverage are shown as their own lines at checkout and deducted from the payout; the payout never goes below zero.
5. What the numbers are not
The prices are what Techtree pays for a device, not retail values or insurance valuations. The market range describes other buyback offers on the day it was collected; it is not a guarantee of what any other service will pay you. Ratings and reviews shown on the site are third-party reviews of Techtree, not ratings of the prices.
